The IMPACT Study

For young people ages 16-24 who have had condomless sex while using stimulants

Combining evidence-based talk therapy to treat depression and sexual health counseling for young people who use stimulants to (1) encourage youth to reengage in healthier activities they enjoy and (2) reduce the likelihood of getting or transmitting HIV.

Get up to $825 for completing harm reduction talk therapy and sexual health counseling sessions.

The foXXy doxy Study

For females ages 13-29 who have had an STI (gonorrhea, chlamydia, or syphilis) in the past 12 months

Testing if DoxyPEP, an antibiotic already proven to prevent certain STIs among men, can prevent STIs for more young people.

Linking Youth to PrEP Services (LYPS)

For young people ages 13-24 who may benefit from PrEP for HIV prevention

Aiming to improve PrEP use among young people by combining the use of a Community Health Provider to provide PrEP services at a location the participant chooses outside the clinic (e.g., in a private room in a community center) with a smartphone-based app to support PrEP use between services.

For males ages 13-24 who are not currently taking PrEP and interested in learning more about it

Testing whether tailored digital tools with information about PrEP and DoxyPEP help young men choose the best type of PrEP for them and take the medications as recommended.

What did the HAPPY study do?

  • Step 1: In-depth interviews completed with 45 youth
  • Step 2: Pilot survey completed by 15 youth
  • Step 3: Full survey completed by 365 youth

Findings will inform ATN 172, which will develop and test the new medication.
