FDA Approved Truvada as Treatment for People Living with HIV

In 2004, emtricitabine/tenofovir (brant name Truvada) was approved for use among adolescents and adults as treatment for HIV-1 in combination with other antiretroviral medications to reduce viral load and increase CD4 cell counts.
